Restaurants, bars and retail on Garnet and Mission

Staff turnover means keys you no longer control, and a rekey costs a fraction of one break-in. We schedule rekeys before opening or after close so we are never in the way of customers. We also fix the hardware that fails most on busy doors: closers that slam or will not close, exit devices that stick, storefront locks with worn cams, and back-door deadbolts that were never installed straight. The same goes for the restaurant rows in Old Town and the breweries and shops along Morena Blvd in Bay Park.

Property managers and multi-unit buildings

If you manage units in PB, the apartment blocks of University City or anywhere in between, you need one number that handles turnovers, lockouts and lock upgrades without a new explanation every time. We keep a record of your keying so the next change is simple, invoice per unit if you need it, and coordinate directly with tenants when you cannot be there. Our page for property managers and HOAs explains how an account works.

Master key systems and interchangeable cores

A master key system lets different keys open different combinations of doors: staff open the front, managers open the front and the office, you open everything. We design it around how the business actually runs and leave room to add doors later without starting over.

For buildings that change hands often, interchangeable core cylinders go a step further. With a control key, a core swaps out in seconds without tools, so a lost key is dealt with the same morning instead of waiting for a rekey appointment.

Exit doors, closers and hardware that has to work

Exit doors need to open from the inside in a single motion, with no key and no special knowledge. We install and service panic bars and exit devices so they do exactly that, and we will not fit hardware that traps people inside, no matter how the door is being misused. Closers get adjusted for sweep and latch speed so the door shuts and locks every time instead of standing open to the alley.

How pricing works for commercial jobs

Commercial pricing follows the number of doors and cylinders, the grade of hardware, whether we are rekeying, recoring or replacing, and the design work involved in a master key system. Early-morning and evening visits are quoted the same way as any other job, in advance. Property managers can set up an account with per-unit invoicing.

For anything beyond a single lockout we prefer to see the doors, in person or in photos, so the quote is firm. You approve the price before work starts, and we do not swap in hardware you did not ask for. Our pricing FAQ explains the approach in more detail.

What to have ready when you call

  • The business name and address, and who is authorized to approve the work
  • How many doors and which ones need attention
  • Photos of the existing hardware, inside and outside, if you can text them
  • Whether you have working keys, and for interchangeable cores, whether you have the control key
  • The best window: before opening, after close, or a quiet weekday afternoon

Common questions

Can you come after we close?

Yes, within our hours of 7 am to 9:30 pm, every day. That covers early mornings before you open and evenings after most shops and offices close, which is when we schedule most commercial work so we are not in the way of customers or staff. Business lockouts are handled the same way during those hours. Tell us your hours and we work around them.

Do you work with property management companies?

We do. Call to set up an account so your team has one number for turnovers, emergencies and scheduled work, with keying records kept on file and invoicing per unit or per property as you prefer.

Can you rekey commercial locks without replacing them?

In most cases, yes. Standard commercial cylinders rekey the same way residential ones do. Interchangeable core systems are even quicker: with the control key, the core swaps out in seconds and the old key is dead immediately. If your hardware is worn to the point that rekeying is not worth it, we say so and quote a replacement.

How does a master key system work?

Each cylinder is pinned to accept two or more keys: its own change key and one or more master keys above it. That lets you give staff access to one door, managers to several, and keep a master that opens everything. We design the system around your floor plan and staffing, and document it so future changes are simple.

We lost the only key to our back door and we open in an hour. What now?

Call us now. We open the door without damage, rekey the cylinder so the missing key no longer works, and cut you fresh keys on the spot. If the lock itself is worn out, we can usually replace it with commercial-grade hardware from the truck in the same visit.
