Getting to you in Old Town

The Old Town Transit Center on Taylor St is the hub for the trolley, Coaster, Amtrak and buses, and its lots plus the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park lots are where most of our car lockout calls come from. Weekends and festival days bring crowds and closed streets around the park, so we plan the approach down Morena from Bay Park or along Taylor rather than through the middle. For businesses, tell us the back-door location; that is usually where we work.

What we see most in Old Town

Restaurants, shops and galleries in and around the State Historic Park mean commercial work: rekeys after staff changes, back-door deadbolts, panic hardware and door closers that slam. Older buildings sometimes have period doors that deserve better than a hardware-store lockset, so we choose hardware that fits and mortise it cleanly without chewing up the door. The residential streets on the hill are older homes and apartments with the usual list: lockouts, rekeys and deadbolts.

Between the park and the hill

The State Historic Park and the blocks around San Diego Ave are the commercial core. Presidio Park sits above it, with Mission Hills homes along the ridge. Below Taylor St is the transit center, with Rosecrans St heading out toward Point Loma and I-8 running east into Mission Valley. It is compact, walkable and easy for us to cover in a single trip when a manager has several doors to deal with.
